The UniVlora Scientific Journal (UVSJ) recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI and AI-assisted technologies, can support authors, editors, reviewers, and other participants in the scholarly publishing process. At the same time, the use of such technologies must not compromise research integrity, transparency, authorship, confidentiality, or accountability.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools, including generative AI, for limited purposes such as language improvement, grammar and spelling correction, translation, formatting, or other forms of editorial assistance.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scholarly content of their manuscripts. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot assume responsibility for the work.

Any substantive use of generative AI that contributes to the development of the manuscript, including the generation or substantial modification of text, images, tables, code, analyses, or other content, must be transparently disclosed by the authors.

Such disclosure should identify the AI tool used, the purpose of its use, and, where appropriate, the relevant section or content affected. Authors must carefully verify all AI-generated or AI-assisted content, including references and factual statements, as AI systems may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated information.

The use of AI tools does not relieve authors of their responsibility to comply with copyright, confidentiality, research ethics, and data protection requirements.

AI and Research Data

Authors must not enter confidential, personal, unpublished, proprietary, or otherwise sensitive information obtained during research or peer review into publicly available generative AI systems where confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.

AI-generated content must not be presented as original research, human observation, or independently conducted analysis.

Use of AI by Reviewers

Reviewers must not upload or otherwise disclose manuscripts, unpublished data, reviewer reports, or any confidential material to generative AI tools or other AI systems that may compromise confidentiality.

Reviewers must conduct their evaluations independently and remain personally responsible for the content and recommendations of their peer-review reports. Generative AI must not be used to generate or substantially compose peer-review reports.

Use of AI by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted technologies only for appropriate administrative or technical purposes that do not compromise the confidentiality, integrity, or fairness of the editorial process.

Editors must not use generative AI to make final editorial decisions or to replace their professional judgment. Confidential manuscripts, reviewer identities, reports, and other unpublished materials must not be entered into AI systems where confidentiality cannot be assured.

Disclosure and Transparency

Where AI has been used in a manner that materially contributes to the manuscript, authors must provide an appropriate disclosure statement. The disclosure should appear in the published article, normally in an AI Use Declaration or Acknowledgements section, as appropriate.

Minor use of AI tools solely for correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, or language style does not normally require a formal disclosure, unless the use goes beyond routine language assistance.

Editorial Responsibility

The use or non-use of AI does not affect the editorial evaluation of a manuscript. UVSJ evaluates submissions on the basis of their scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical standards, and contribution to knowledge.

UVSJ reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI and to take appropriate action where undisclosed or inappropriate AI use raises concerns about research integrity, authorship, plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, confidentiality, or copyright.

By submitting a manuscript to UVSJ, authors acknowledge that they remain fully accountable for the work and for any AI-assisted content included in the manuscript.
