Journal History

UniVlora Scientific Journal (UVSJ) was established in 2025 by the University of Vlora "Ismail Qemali", Albania, as a multidisciplinary scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and academic collaboration at national and international levels. The journal was founded in response to the growing need for a high-quality, peer-reviewed platform that promotes the dissemination of original research across diverse scientific and scholarly fields.

Since its inception, UVSJ has aimed to support the university's strategic vision of becoming an internationally oriented institution that contributes to scientific excellence, regional development, and global academic exchange. The journal publishes research in the areas of Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and Law, reflecting the broad academic profile of the University of Vlora.

The first issue of UVSJ (Volume 1, Issue 1) was published in 2025, marking the beginning of a new institutional commitment to open, transparent, and internationally visible scholarly communication. From the outset, the journal adopted a double-blind peer review process, open access publishing model, DOI registration through Crossref, and editorial practices aligned with internationally recognized standards of research integrity and publication ethics.

UVSJ continues to develop its international profile by expanding its editorial board, reviewer network, and authorship beyond national boundaries. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers, academics, and professionals worldwide and is committed to increasing the visibility and impact of scholarly research through responsible, ethical, and accessible publishing.

Journal's Structure

The journal is structured into six main sections:

• Technical Science Section – covering engineering, technology, mathematics, physics and related fields.
• Natural Science Section – covering chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, and related fields.
• Economic Section – addressing economics, finance, management, business, public policy, and global economic challenges.
• Humanities & Social Sciences Section – focusing on pedagogy, curriculum development, educational psychology, higher education, and lifelong learning.
• Law Section – focusing on legal studies, jurisprudence, governance, and the role of law in society and international relations.
• Health Section – dedicated to medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and allied health sciences.

The journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches and integrative research that bridge the boundaries between these fields, highlighting the role of science and scholarship in shaping knowledge, policy, and practice.

Publishing Frequency

UniVlora Scientific Journal (UVSJ) is published twice a year, with two regular issues annually.

The journal follows a consistent and publicly announced publication schedule. Issues are published according to the following schedule:

• Issue 1: June
• Issue 2: December

All accepted articles are published according to the journal's editorial and production schedule following the completion of the peer-review and editorial processes.

In exceptional circumstances, the journal may publish a Special Issue in addition to its regular issues, subject to the approval of the Editorial Board and compliance with the journal's peer-review and publication ethics policies. Special Issues do not replace the journal's regular publication schedule.

Ownership and Management

The UniVlora Scientific Journal (UVSJ) is owned and published by the University “Ismail Qemali” of Vlora (https://univlora.edu.al/), a public higher education institution in Vlora, Albania.

The journal is managed through its Editorial Board, which is responsible for the scientific and editorial management of the journal, including the evaluation of submissions, peer-review procedures, editorial decisions, publication planning, and the maintenance of academic and publication standards.

The ownership and management of the journal are institutionally separate from the editorial assessment of individual manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on the scientific quality, originality, relevance, and ethical standards of submitted manuscripts and are not influenced by commercial, financial, or other non-academic interests.

The University of Vlora “Ismail Qemali” provides the institutional framework and administrative support necessary for the operation and sustainability of the journal, while the Editorial Board maintains responsibility for editorial and scholarly decisions.
